EDIT: NOW MAC COMPLIANT, BUT ONLY FOR CONTACTS AT THE MOMENT
If you are like me, I don't want to spend $99 to have a mobileme account. so this is a round up for those who would like to have the "push service" in their ipod/iphone for free!!.
I know that you will not have 20 gigabytes, but come on... :P
First of all let me give the credits to
consume1 and to
tropsoilc, they gave the original info...
I just make it work together in this how to...
Step 1:
Go to this
page , hit "sign up now" button, make an account, once you finish it choose premium or basic, and then hit the checkmark for the 128 bit encryption.
Step 2:
Once in there go to options in the left side panel, and search for this options
there you have to choose your current time zone, and in "calendar options" be sure to set the day start time to 12:00 AM and for day end time too.
Step 3:
Now in your ipod go to
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add new account > Microsoft Exchange.
just put in here the same info you entered in the step 1
Email : your-username@mail2web.com
Server : mobile.exchange.mail2web.com
Username : your-username@mail2web.com
Password : your password
be sure you entered all the info!!!
tap Save, if everything went ok the new account let you choose what do you want to sync. if something wrong happens check again, if the error persist just save it in that way.
Now in the same menu (Mail, contacts, calendars) go down to the last options, and disable
Time Zone Support (turn it off)
Step 3-b Mac Users Only
First of all you have to manage your contacts with Address Book.
Open that app and go to preferences > general tab, there you have to tick the "syncronize with exchange", and then click on configure.
right after that you have to enter this in the Synchronization dialog,
User Name: youremail@mail2web.com
Password: your-password
Server: https://exchange.mail2web.com/exchan...h@mail2web.com
Be sure to enter correctly your info...
then open up iSync, and go to preferences, tick the checkbox labeled "Show Status in Menu Bar", and then click the menu bar applet and choose Sync Now. doing this you should have synced your contacts with the mail2web server, and therefore with your iPod too...
[info provided by a blog named "lifehacker"]
Step 4:
Go to this
page hit "
Register"
Enter this
Server: Microsoft Exchange
URL: http://exchange.mail2web.com/exchange
Email Address: your-username@mail2web.com
Username: your-username@mail2web.com
Password: your pass
be sure to enter
@mail2web.com in the email and username fields... now hit register and wait to get inside...
Step 5:
Now go to
Downloads and then to
desktop
Download the software (12.5 mb) install it, and open it.
Hit sync, and enter again:
Username: your-username@mail2web.com
Password: your password
let it sync with the server
and there you go!!!!
Soon your iPod will have all your contacts, calendars and mail "pushed from the cloud" into your device, and it works both ways!!!
You can forward any email account you have to this one, or if you are like me just to sync your calendars and your contacts.
Any problems please just let me know.
Hope it helps!!

EDIT:
One downside its that if you have pictures in your contacts they don't sync with them... too bad lolz!
