Default Wich is the better Linux Flavor for me?

Hello there, I really like to start using linux but the only computer i got to do it is an old laptop, that got windows 98 and about 2g of HDD, im thinking of hooking an external HDD, wich flavor of linux would suit the best? BTW i want to sync mi iPot with it

and will i be abble to sync my ipod? also i was thinking if i would be able to boot Ubuntu Hardy from an usb, BUT without any os in the HDD?

You don't need an OS, you just need a bios that supports booting from USB, which I doubt your old comp will. I also doubt it'll be runnable on usb 1/1.1.

USB 1/1.1 is not an issue, but you are right that the motherboard may not support booting directly from USB, if not you can get a floppy disk that will start the process and then hand over to the USB.

Depends on how much ram there is, if theres not enough then it'll have to use a swap, and it'll be a pain. And boot up times will be through the roof. But ya.

ok, i think it can boot from an USB, but it have to configure it to boot first, anyways i'll give it a shot thanxs guys i'll keep in touch

You WILL have to partition in order to install on such a small hard drive for any up-to-date/current Operating Systems.
